High-end clothier expands customer base with affordable lineup

According to Ermenegildo Zegna, left, CEO of the Ermenegildo Zegna Group, the Shinjuku store will carry a deep selection of all of the group's brands and products lines. The store boasts about 700 sq. meters of floor space on four floors above ground and one basement level. The building is covered with 2.5km of crisscrossing stainless steel rods.

Italian fashion house Ermenegildo Zegna has opened a huge new flagship store in Japan that offers a comprehensive lineup of luxury menswear and accessories designed to connect with everyone from Joe Casual to snazzy clothes horses.

The store, which opened Jan. 30 in Tokyo's Shinjuku district, has about 700 sq. meters of floor space on four floors above ground and one underground. It offers not only the suits for which Zegna is famous but also casual clothing and other accessories - ties, sunglasses, leather items - that the company has developed in recent years. More foreign directors making local movies depicting scenes of real, contemporary Japan

An increasing number of foreign film directors are shooting "Japanese movies" on location in Japan, often using a largely Japanese cast and crew.
Unlike past Westerner-produced films set in Japan, which typically took up stereotypical, even anachronistic themes, such as "yakuza," "samurai" and "geisha," the new breed of movies are focused on the real Japan of today. One director is making a romantic movie that takes place at an international school while another is shooting a thriller on location at the Tsukiji Market, the Koenji district and other Tokyo locations. ...Full story>>
